Interview Prep Checklist: What to Do in the 48 Hours Before

Updated October 2026

Research the interviewers by name if LinkedIn tells you who's on the panel — knowing someone's background lets you ask sharper questions and shows real preparation.

Prepare 3–4 STAR-format stories (Situation, Task, Action, Result) that cover the core competencies in the job spec, and have them ready to adapt to whatever's actually asked rather than rehearsing word for word.

Prepare 2–3 questions to ask them. 'What does success look like in this role after six months?' signals more seriousness than asking about holiday allowance in round one.

For video interviews, test your camera, lighting and internet connection the night before, not five minutes before — technical scrambles visibly rattle people on camera.

Know your salary range before you're asked, and have a number ready rather than deflecting — Irish employers increasingly ask this early, and a vague non-answer reads as unprepared.
