How to Write a CV With No Work Experience (Ireland)

Updated October 2026

With no paid experience, the CV should lead with a short profile, then education, then evidence of skills. Recruiters in Ireland are used to graduate and school-leaver CVs and look for reliability, communication and willingness to learn.

Put education first: course, institution, expected or actual completion date and relevant modules or grades. Add projects, placements, society roles, part-time or seasonal work and volunteering, each with one line on what you did and the result.

Replace duties with outcomes. 'Organised a fundraiser that raised €1,200' is stronger than 'helped with events'. Numbers, even small ones, make experience concrete.

Add a skills section that mirrors the job ad: software, languages, driving licence, customer service, first aid. Only list what you can talk about in an interview.

Keep it to one page, use a plain layout that applicant tracking systems can read, and save as PDF unless the employer asks for Word. Ask someone you trust to proofread it before you send it.
